Norticus Software
INDEPENDENT SOFTWARE STUDIO

Thoughtful software. Deterministic results.

Norticus Software builds focused digital tools that solve specific problems with clarity, precision, and care.

Engineering Principles

Our Approach to Building Software

We operate as an independent studio guided by explicit engineering values, preferring clarity and predictability over feature sprawl.

Principle 01

Focused Utilities

We focus on well-defined technical problems rather than expansive software suites. Each tool is built to handle specific, bounded tasks thoroughly and reliably.

Bounded problem scope
Principle 02

Deterministic Engineering

Where specifications exist, we rely on explicit rules and reproducible checks rather than opaque heuristics. Diagnostic output should explain clearly what was verified and why.

Explainable checks
Principle 03

Privacy by Default

We design tools to run locally in the browser whenever practical, minimizing unnecessary data transfer and avoiding accounts or tracking where software can work directly on your machine.

KERF: Print-PDF Preflight Diagnostic

An independent diagnostic utility designed for self-publishers, indie authors, and book creators preparing print-ready files for major publishing platforms.

The Problem

Preparing interior manuscripts and book covers for physical printing is often fraught with subtle technical pitfalls. Cryptic upload rejections, unexpected content shifts, trim discrepancies, and margin warnings frequently halt production late in the publishing cycle.

KERF is built to evaluate print-ready PDF files against specific platform specifications, helping creators identify potential formatting and dimensional issues before submitting their work to publishing platforms.

Platform Scope

Initial rule sets focus on common preflight requirements for Amazon KDP and IngramSpark, checking file geometry, interior margins, and cover specifications.
